PulsØ-Ø is a large-format light installation that functions as a very low resolution screen (25x3 pixels), sufficient to be able to augment artificial vision processes that would be very difficult to observe on our human scale.

Its light pixels are activated under the constant binary coding of the predictions that the system itself obtains from various open access sources located in different parts of the globe. Some parameters, such as the frequency at which these encodings pass through the screen, the sound these pixels produce when they are switched on and off, determine the speed at which the objects or entities detected in the image move. PulsØ-Ø is part of a series of work by Rotor Studio on the human role in a world that we do not necessarily understand, even though we have created it ourselves.

The aesthetics of the latent communications and decisions that we do not see is presented in the languages they use, including light, pixels or encodings such as binary, which works at the lowest possible scale of information, i.e. bits.

Large-format light installation

The installation shows how one of these machine vision systems transmits its data in an augmented form and on a totally disproportionate scale, several orders of magnitude slower. A dance of bits, algorithms and models attempt to imitate the human eye in an accelerated and sometimes erroneous and misguided manner.

Rotor Studio

Rotor Studio is made up of Ángeles Angulo and Román Torre. The sum of their experience in various fields, such as the performing arts, the plastic arts or art with an important technical component, gives rise to artistic proposals that attempt to draw attention to and reflect on a number of aspects of today's technology / science / society.

Their work is based on the creation of physical devices halfway between digital craftsmanship, industrial design and audiovisual experience. This hybridisation of techniques results in very diverse formats that are based on common ground.

#architecture, #science, #art #nature, #climate_emergency #geometries, #digital_privacy #science_fiction are some keywords that underpin the projects developed at Rotor Studio.
